Golf has been a beloved sport for centuries, and it has been featured in countless movies over the years. From classic comedies to inspiring dramas, golf movies have entertained and inspired viewers of all ages.

Whether you're a fan of the sport or not, there's something special about a good golf movie that can't be denied. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the best golf movies of all time.

So grab your clubs and get ready to hit the links, because we're about to tee off on a cinematic journey through some of the greatest golf movies ever made.

15 Golf Movies: The Greatest Game!

1. Caddyshack 1980 (Comedy/Sport)

Bill Murray and his cronies, known as the Caddyshack crew, spend their days at Bushwood Country Club.

This is one of the best golf movies that follows Al Czervik (Murray), who recruits several other outsiders to join him on a tour of Bushwood.

Throughout his day at the club, Czervik is met with obscene behavior from nearly everyone he encounters.

2. Tin Cup 1996 (Sport/Comedy)

This is one of the great golf films that stars Kevin Costner as Roy Tin Cup McAvoy, an aging professional golfer who has never won a major tournament.

Roy encounters Dr. Molly Griswold (played by Rene Russo), a psychologist assigned to his case.

He agrees to give up alcohol and starts competing again with a renewed focus on winning.

3. Happy Gilmore 1996 (Comedy/Romance)

In Happy Gilmore golf movie, a hockey player turned golfer (Adam Sandler) is told he has one year to live and sets out on a quest to find his estranged father.

The golf movie also features country singer Carl Yastrzemski as himself and Christopher McDonald as Happy's golf coach.

4. The Legend of Bagger Vance 2000 (Drama/Sport)

When I think of great golf movies, The Legend of Bagger Vance starring Will Smith is a classic that always comes to mind.

For those who don't know, it is based on a book by Steven Pressfield and tells the story of Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon), who plays a caddie who can see into both the past and future, but only after he has been struck by lightning.

5. Little Big League 1994 (Sport/Family)

A kid plays Little League baseball with his older brother and friends until a professional team recruits him.

He becomes homesick but eventually realizes that he belongs on the team.

One of these best golf movies is a good reminder of how much young golfers can accomplish when they work hard while playing golf.

6. The Greatest Game Ever Played 2005 (Sport/Drama)

Watching these great golf movies during The Masters is a no-brainer.

The Greatest Game Ever Played stars Shia Lebeouf as Francis Ouimet, an amateur golfer from humble origins who became the youngest winner of The U.S. Open in 1913 and one of America's greatest golfers.

Despite being told by an esteemed country golf club pro that there are no great players from these parts, Ouimet eventually triumphs at The U.S.

7. Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius 2004 (Drama/Sport)

This critically acclaimed and often overlooked film depicts Bobby Jones' rise to fame.

These golf films follow Jones from his humble beginnings as a caddie at an Atlanta golf course until he becomes one of America's most famous athletes.

The golf movies cover Jones' relationship with fellow golf club member Clifford Roberts, his rivalry with Walter Hagen, and his triumphs on home soil at the 1923 U.S. Open and 1930 British Open Championships.

8. Miracle on the 17th Green (Sport/Drama)

In this golf movie, an aging golf pro and a newly hired young caddy team up to compete against a rival golf club at the golf course.

A true underdog story, Miracle on 17th Green stars Michael Keaton and Clint Eastwood as golfing legends who team up with a young caddy during major golf tournaments at Riviera Country Golf Club.

When bad weather wreaks havoc on their chances, one of them will have to figure out a way to triumph over it.

Like these golf movies focus on working together towards a shared goal, this gentleman's game is all about teamwork.

9. A Tale of Sorrow and Sadness 1977 (Drama/Thriller)

One of my favorite golf movies is A Tale of Sorrow and Sadness, a Japanese film that tells the story of Yoko Shiraki, a popular model.

The golf movie features an exciting blend of elements from various genres, including drama and thriller.

These golf movies have some intense sequences that make it well-suited for horror enthusiasts.

10.Tee Shot: Ariya Jutanugarn 2019 (Biography/Drama)

Ariya Jutanugarn became the youngest golfer ever at 16 to win a major with her victory at the 2017 U.S. Women's Open Ladies Professional Golf Association.

She has been ranked number one in women's golf since 2016 and is currently leading this year's LPGA Tour with two victories and four major golf tournaments finishes.

You will enjoy Seve: The Movie if you love sports movies.

It is about the life and career of golf legend Seve Ballesteros, who overcame many obstacles in his golf lessons to become one of the best players in history.

The film follows him from childhood through retirement and includes interviews with some of the sport's most iconic figures.

Directed by John-Paul Davidson, it will keep you on your toes throughout.

13.The Squeeze 2015 (Sport/Drama)

Augie is the protagonist of The Squeeze, and he has been drafted into the pro golf circuit.

He has given an ultimatum: keep winning or get off the tour. Augie keeps his cool and tries not to let pressure affect him, but his opponents aren't going down without a fight.

They will do anything to take him down, but Augie will stop at nothing until he fulfills his dream of winning the U.S. Open.

14.Round of Your Life 2019 (Drama)

It is not just about the game; sometimes, sports can also take you on an emotional roller coaster.

The protagonist's dad passed away in a car accident, and a little guy (Taylor Collins) enrolled in his high school golf team and won the title for dad!

This movie is one of my favorites, as it shows hope, love, and faith!

15.Swing Away 2016 (Romance /Drama)

Swing Away is the story of an aspiring professional golfer, Zoe Papadopoulos.

This movie is a feel-good sports film that will inspire you to never give up on your dreams.

Golf Swing Away has been called inspiring and powerful, but I found it more inspiring than anything else.

The story is inspirational for anyone who has ever felt like they didn't belong or have what it takes to succeed in something they love.
